“There is A god”

I am no better person than anyone else in the world…I used to think so but now I know that whatever I have is from God, and anything good I have is from him.

I always believed there was A God… Just not the God that anyone would describe.

Looking back I think that it is funny that one hand I rejected anything people told me, but I held out the belief that there must be some sort of creator…

It never hit me that if there is something out there so powerful that can create everything, then I should make an effort to investigate, or even consider the security of beleiving in something so powerful, knowing nothing about it, and ignoring it.

This was even as I called myself an atheist, I said to myself ‘there is a God’…Knowing the definition of a God…All powerful and all knowing, but the two facts never joined up in my mind - that there is a god and that god knows everything and made everything, and can do anything.

How could I move closer to knowing god or make the effort to find out about god? I couldn’t because I was too ignorant, but God made himself known to me, and then I started to learn more about God - About his mercy and love.

my experience reminds me of what St. Paul said in Acts ch 17: Verse 23

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

you can read the complete speech online, here: (it is fairly short and worth reading)

my latest blog post - This title will soon become redundant!

Hi everyone its been a while…
Today is my 6th day of driving my new car. I never owned a car before and its been a long time since I drove any car before now. But I havent smashed anything yet! It is a manual too, and I had never driven a manual before but I am learning. Each time I stall in an intersection or try to put the car in reverse while going forward at 20km/h I learn more of what not to do.

I have a lot more energy today because I saved about an hour walking by driving to the train station in the morning and the home from there after work. Enough energy to write here even but it will run out soon im sure. The time saving also means that i dont have to get up as early in the morning now when i have a 6:00 start at work, and its ok to drive half asleep before 6am because there is no traffic. I dont think i saw a single other car this morning. Did i even have my lights on? I cant remember oops!

I went shopping on the way home from work for food because my kitchen is empty. Its really convienient to be able to buy more food than I can carry home…And quicker too. One thing i do when i know im going to stop the car anyway is to see how low speed each gear can take before it stalls with the clutch pedal fully off. Surprisingly, 3rd can go down to about 15 km/h even though i normally change to 3rd once i reach about 50 km/h. 2nd Stalls anywhere it likes between 10 and 20 km/h it is a bit tempermental and it makes the can skid and lurch forward lots of times if you stall in 2nd. 1st will go as long as the car is moving. If it starts to go strange it just needs more accellerator or more clutch or to stall it deliberatly its just like turning the car off.The car slows down and shakes a bit and then stops and the engine stops. Reverse can stall but it does it very smoothly and i havent deliberatly stalled the car in reverse.

I was talking to one of my work-mates today about where to park and there is this spot right near work where we both like to park but other people normally get there first on weekdays. There are a whole lot of poles in front of the space and its hard to get between them but its doable. There is a makeshift sign saying ‘towaway zone’ there too but I think if a towtruck can get through the poles to get to my car, they deserve it!

So the plan is to get some witches hats or some plastic tape and block the spots off then people will think it is something official and not park there. And then when I want to park I will just get out and move whatever we put there then park. Hehehe. I probably wont actually bother with that though.

Well thats all for now

Thanks if you read down to this point.Much better than just reading my title! I think this title didnt give away much though. By the way: Praise god! hehe yes this post is following the theme of previous posts and giving praise and thanks to god. Even though my car came to me in a very explainable and human way, it was god who set it all up and made it all work. And it hasnt even broken down yet even though it is a cheap old bomb thats god at work answering my prayers :)
When i first got the car, the seatbelt stopped working on the passenger side and it was annoying me and 2 days later i asked Jesus to make the seatbelt work and then i tried it - and it worked! and it hadnt worked about 20 times i had tried it that day and the previous days. The same thing when it wouldnt start, I asked Jesus that time too to let the car start and then someone came and did something quickly under the bonnet and it started fine! Thankyou god!

Ok now you have reached the end of this post :) Congradulations! If you read one more line there might be a prize!

I said might…sorry hehe :-D

Paul

OH and by the way the public transport system really sucks here I have put up with it long enough so no-one should even think the words ‘public transport’ in opposition to my car-enthusiasm….unless you really really have to….
